FYJC 11th Admission 2024: General Rules and Regulations

Mentioned below are some general rules and guidelines that a candidate must adhere to for the online FYJC 11th admission process.

FYJC Instructions for Maharashtra State Board Students

Here are the instructions for only Maharashtra State Board students which are different from those formulated for non-state board students:
  • For FYJC 11th admission, you will have to first check the streams provided.
  • According to the admissions guidelines, students will only be able to choose one stream.
  • Even though FYJC admission is available in many fields, some colleges only keep spaces for students who achieve high grades and rank well on the merit list.
  • Once the places set aside for top-ranked students are taken, they fill up seats under the remaining quotas.
  • Students get the option of choosing ten colleges from several options so they must decide after considering all aspects.
  • You may change your major during the admissions process.
  • Once you change a major, your place in the existing course will be given to another student. So, if you switch streams, you can't switch back.

FYJC Instructions for Non-State Board Students

Here are the guidelines for non-state board students that must be strictly followed:
  • Students who are not from state boards, such as ICSE, NIOS, CBSE, IB or from state boards other than MSBSHSE need to fill 'Part A' of the first-year junior college (FYJC) application forms.
  • Students who are not from state boards must write down their 'best five' outcomes on the application forms, stated by the CAP committee.
  • NIOS students must fill up marks as shown on their mark sheet. Any individual with the remark 'subject marks to be declared' on their mark sheet won’t be able to fill out the online FYJC 11th admission application form. Please note that the website link provided here is not available as it is just an example for you to understand how the application process works.
  • As per the rules, the Maharashtra State Board will consider admissions for ICSE candidates based on their subject group.
  • For International Board (IB) students, the calculation and conversion of marks out of 500 will not involve the 'best of five' method.

FAQs

What was the location wise cutoff trend for FYJC 11th admission 2023?

The cutoff trend for FYJC 11th admission 2023 indicates a rise in cutoffs across different regions of Maharashtra such as Mumbai, Pune, Nagpur and Nashik. The third merit list shows that the cutoffs for science and commerce streams have gone up by 3-6% in Mumbai while they increased by 5% in Pune. In Mumbai, the majority of colleges required more than 95% for admission. Renowned colleges like KC, HR, Jai Hind and Ruia have closed their cutoffs above this limit of percentage for all courses. The growth in cutoffs occurred because students waited until the third round to get admission into their desired colleges, causing more competition and higher score requirements. The special round of admissions showed a small drop in cut-off scores, especially in top colleges of the city, as there was an increase in seats available because certain quotas were given up by these institutions.

What are the FYJC 11th admission important guidelines?

The FYJC 11th admission important guidelines are as follows:

  • Contenders who have cleared class 10th from CBSE, ICSE or any other board are required to finish and give in Appendix “A” form.
  • Students who are not from the Maharashtra board should enter their top five scores in admission forms.
  • For ICSE candidates, specific subject groups will be considered for the admission process.
  • While filling out the form 2, candidates can change their chosen stream only once.
  • For HSVC and bifocal subjects, 25% of the seats will be kept for students who have passed 10th with V1, V2 and V3.

What are the passing marks for FYJC?

FYJC (Arts, Commerce & Science) students have 4 exams per academic year. Passing the academic year requires each student to get at least 35 % marks in every subject. The result of XI standard exams is calculated by taking average marks from all 4 exams.

Is maths compulsory for FYJC?

No, maths is not compulsory for First Year Junior College (FYJC). Whatever FYJ college you will join will provide you with the list of subjects and from that list you can opt for various streams like Commerce, Science, Arts and even in the Science stream you can opt for Biology with Chemistry and Physics instead of Maths.

What are the fees for FYJC in Mumbai?

The fees for FYJC in Mumbai are different according to the college and stream.
