- IISc Bangalore has released the GATE English Syllabus and the exam dates on the official website. Candidates can download the
GATE syllabus
English in the form of a PDF. GATE will be conducted at the national level for admission into various programs like MS, M.Tech, M.E, and Direct Ph.D., etc. on
February 3, 4, 10, and 11
. GATE english exam was conducted on February 4.
Candidates qualifying for the
GATE
examination will have the golden opportunity to pursue their favorite Arts & Humanities and Environmental Science and Engineering postgraduate courses from various
IITs
, NITS, and similar other institutions of national repute. On the other hand, various PSUs that require English Literature graduates will also accept the GATE score of the respective subject.

Exam Pattern and Marking Scheme for GATE English Paper
Candidates willing to appear in the English paper of GATE must be aware of the exam pattern and marking scheme of it as well as it is quite different from the usual subjects for which GATE is conducted. The detailed marking scheme and exam pattern of GATE English paper has been provided below -
The General Aptitude section will be carrying 15 marks in total
B1 section also called the Reasoning and Comprehension section will carry 15 questions in total in MSQ/MCQ format
B1 section will carry a maximum mark of 25 - 05 questions will be of 1 mark each and the remaining 10 questions will be of 2 marks each
The third section (English) will contain 60 questions in total in MSQ/MCQ format
There will be 20 questions in the third section and each question will carry 1 mark while the remaining 20 questions will carry 2 marks each
There will be negative marking for wrong/incorrect attempts
Each question will carry 04 options in total out of which only is the correct option
