How to Score 100 Percentile in CUET Exam?

CUET marks and percentile are not the same thing. Someone expecting to score 100 percentile in CUET 2023 exam should secure marks between 188 to 200. Getting 100 percentile in CUET means you have performed better than 100% of students who have appeared for the same CUET 2023 session.

NTA publishes the CUET result in the form of percentile. The percentile received by the candidates is not the exact marks received by them, but it is their normalized score. After JEE, CUET is the second-largest exam in India and the number of candidates appearing in the exam is also huge in number. So, NTA (National Testing Agency) has introduced the normalisation method which is also known as the equipercentile method. You can read more about CUET marks vs percentile to get a detailed idea of this. Scoring 100 percentile in the CUET exam is not difficult if candidates keep in mind a few things.

This article provides some tips that you must follow and certain things that you should avoid in order to score 100 percentile in CUET. Also, read in detail about the CUET 2023 normalisation method.

How to Score 100 Percentile in CUET 2023?

Candidates who appear for CUET 2023 often seem perplexed about how to score 100 percentile in CUET. Almost all test-takers aspire to get full marks in CUET, but you need to follow some tips to get 100 percentile.

  • Know the Eligibility Criteria

This may seem an odd tip but it is one of the most useful tips for CUET. As you have shortlisted the colleges of your choice, it is extremely important that you know the eligibility criteria for a particular course in a particular college. You can go through CUET 2023 eligibility criteria in order to understand the requirements of the colleges. If you know the requirements, you can focus on one particular thing. The colleges participating in CUET might need different domains, they may not need English or need GT (General Test which is part of Section III) for admission. There is no need to prepare for everything and in a way lose your energy or divert your mind from the main domain. Find out the eligibility criteria of your preferred colleges, focus on that and score 100 percentile in CUET.

  • Make your Basics Strong

Making your basics strong should be of utmost importance. Last year, CUET asked very basic questions but that does not mean the candidates did not make any mistake. Basic questions can also sometimes be tricky. CUET syllabus is completely based on NECRT Class 12 syllabus. As a result, it is expected that the basics of the candidates are strong. So, NTA asks basic questions but in a different or tricky way. Students are seen not practising the basics during their CUET exam preparation and hence forget them during the exams. These students find the question papers to be hard and not easily doable.

  • Avoid Negative Marking

If you know the CUET exam pattern , then you must also know that the exam has a negative marking. Candidates will get 5 marks for correct answers and 1 mark will be deducted for incorrect answers. You must try to avoid negative markings in order to score 100 percentile in CUET exam. Commerce students can prepare for Accountancy as direct questions are asked. Students from Arts and Science can go through their option topic once as direct questions can be asked. It happens sometimes that students even after preparing for a particular subject mark the wrong answer. A deduction of one mark means you are going one step back from scoring 100 percentile. As students get options to answer 40 questions out of 50, it is advisable to fully cover the syllabus and answer those questions in which you are confident.

What is CUET 2023 Normalisation Method?

As introduced by NTA, the normalisation method in CUET UG 2023 exam includes the percentile of each test-taker which is calculated by comparing the test taker’s raw score to the scores of other test takers who took CUET in the same session. As CUET is conducted in multiple sessions, this method will be used for every session throughout the CUET timetable for the same subject.

The CUET 2023 percentile score ranges from 0 to 100 and can be calculated using the below-given formula:

CUET percentile score = 100 x {(Number of examinees who appeared in the ‘Session’ with raw score either equal to or less than the examinees)/ (Total number of examinees who appeared in the session)}

CUET aspirants must adopt the 30/ 70 rule which is basically dividing their time following this rule. Candidates should devote 30% of their time to clearing their concepts and 70% of their time should be spent practising the mock questions. This will eventually help candidates to gain insights into the variety of questions that are easy, trick and hard and help them on their final exam day.

  • Solve Sample Papers and Apply for Mock Tests

If candidates focus on solving questions from the CUET sample paper and attempt CUET mock test , they will develop confidence.
