List of Category Certificates Required for IIT JAM 2025 Application

IIT JAM 2025 exam is a national-level entrance exam for postgraduate programs in science, technology, and mathematics. The IIT JAM exam is for Undergraduate students who want to pursue MSc in the IIT and IISc in India. The first step to appearing in the IIT JAM entrance exam is filling IIT JAM application form successfully. In order to successfully complete the application, it is important to know all the documents and certificates which should be uploaded while filling out the application. One of the documents required to be uploaded while filling out the application is Category Certificates. Uploading the Category Certificate is the most crucial part of the JAM application. There are a number of category certificates that are required for the IIT JAM 2025 application . These Category Certificates are used to determine whether a candidate is eligible for any of the available reservation benefits.

IIT JAM 2025 application form was made available for registrations from September 3, 2024, to October 18, 2024. Following that, Indian Institute of Technology Delhi has activated IIT JAM 2025 application form correction window and the last day to edit the form is 18 November, 2024. Candidates who have filled out and submitted the application form before the deadline can edit certain particulars in the application form. If there was any problem in uploading the Category Certificate while fillin g up the form then the applicants can make correction within the prescribed time period. No applicant can make any changes after that. Candidates who belong to the EWS and OBC-NCL categories must submit the valid category certificate by December, 2024. Applicants who fail to submit the category certificate, then the category automatically changed to General Category. According to the official schedule, IIT JAM 2025 Exam will be conducted on February 2, 2025. List of Category Certificates Required for IIT JAM Application Form 2025

Candidates can choose the Category certificate depending upon the category they belong to.  There are a total of 5 different categories to choose from. The following is a list of the category certificates that are required for the IIT JAM 2025 application:

This certificate is issued by the Government of India to individuals who belong to the Scheduled Castes (SCs)

Scheduled Tribe (ST) certificate

This certificate is issued by the Government of India to individuals who belong to the Scheduled Tribes (STs)

Other Backward Classes (OBC) certificate

This certificate is issued by the Government of India to individuals who belong to the Other Backward Classes (OBCs)

Economically Weaker Section (EWS) certificate

This certificate is issued by the Government of India to individuals who belong to the Economically Weaker Section (EWS)

Persons with Disability (PwD) certificate

This certificate is issued by the Government of India to individuals with disabilities

Category Certificates Specifications for IIT JAM 2025 Application

There are some rules and specifications that need to be followed and met by the candidates who are filling IIT JAM application form 2025. Here are some tips for submitting category certificates for the IIT JAM 2025 application:

  • Category certificates are required for the IIT JAM 2025 application to determine whether a candidate is eligible for any of the available reservation benefits.
  • Only category certificates issued by authorized officials are valid. If you don’t submit a valid OBC-NCL/EWS certificate, the candidate will be treated under the General category.
  • Candidates should upload a scanned copy of the certificate in PDF format with a file size of 10 KB to 300 KB. The same certificate will be required to be submitted during admissions to the respective institutes.

Things to Keep in Mind While Uploading Category Certificates for IIT JAM 2025 Application

Here are some important things to keep in mind when uploading category certificates:

  • The certificates must be valid and up-to-date.
  • The certificates should be issued by a recognised authority.
  • The certificates should be in English or Hindi.
  • The certificates should be scanned and uploaded clearly and legibly.
  • If the application is incomplete in or does not have the required valid documents is liable to be rejected by the conducting body.

NOTE - It is important to note that the IIT JAM authorities may require additional documentation to support the category certificates that are submitted. For example, if you are submitting an SC certificate, you may also be required to submit a caste panchayat certificate or a letter from the village headman.

The IIT JAM authorities will review the category certificates that are submitted and decide whether the applicant is eligible for any of the available reservation benefits. If the applicant is eligible for a reservation benefit, the benefit will be applied to their IIT JAM score. The IIT JAM authorities will release a list of eligible candidates for each category on the IIT JAM website. The list of eligible candidates will be published after the IIT JAM 2025 exam is conducted.
