Starting from the last year, CoA introduced several changes to the NATA exam pattern. As per the new changes, NATA 2025 eligibility criteria have been revised, students looking to participate in NATA 2025 are now required to have a minimum 45% score in the qualifying exam

List of New Changes in NATA 2025

List of New Changes in NATA 2025: The National Aptitude Test in Architecture (NATA) has been conducted by the Council of Architecture (CoA) every year since 2006 for admission to Bachelor of Architecture courses in several leading design colleges across India. CoA has started the NATA 2025 registration from 3 February 2025. The NATA 2025 exam dates have also been announced, the exam will be held from 1 March 2025 to June 2025.  The NATA 2025 exam pattern mostly remains the same as last year, however, the only change was made to the eligibility criteria, students with a minimum of 45% marks in the qualifying exam are now eligible for the NATA 2025 exam . The Council of Architecture has released the information brochure of the NATA 2025 exam on its official website. NATA 2025 Eligibility Criteria

NATA 2025 Information Brochure features information about the NATA 2025 eligibility criteria, highlighting who can participate in the exam. Number of Attempts

According to the information brochure of the NATA 2025 exam as released by the Council of Architecture, you can appear for a total of 3 attempts in NATA 2025 in one academic year. This change was brought to the NATA 2025 exam in the last year. When results are announced, the attempt with the highest score will be taken into account and the NATA test score will be valid for a total period of 2 years.

NATA 2025 Exam Schedule: Exam on Every Weekend

NATA exam 2025 will be conducted on all the weekends commencing from 1 March 2025 in two sessions. If you are aspiring for the NATA exam, you must mark your preference for the exam city and session while registering for the exam. The NATA 2025 exam schedule has been provided in the table below:

Drawing Test Reintroduced in NATA 2025: Exam Pattern & Marks

One of the major changes introduced to the NATA exam pattern was the introduction of the Drawing Test, this change was brought in the last year. For the NATA 2025 exam, the Drawing Test is part of the NATA 2025 syllabus. CoA has made no changes to this section of the syllabus.

Part A - Drawing and Composition Test (Reintroduced)

The Council of Architecture for the academic year 2024-2025 reintroduced the Drawing and Composition test for a total time duration of 90 minutes / 1 Hour 30 Minutes. The drawing test made a comeback to the NATA 2025 question paper last year following a 2-year absence. The Drawing and Composition test will be for a total of 80 Marks distributed across 3 questions. NATA 2025 Drawing and Composition Test will be conducted as an offline exam.

Part B

This section will consist of questions in the MCQ format. Part B of the NATA exam will be conducted in the online mode as a computer-based exam for a total time duration of 90 minutes / 1 hour 30 minutes. There will be a total of 45 questions divided into two parts B1 and B2 comprising 30 questions from B1 and 15 questions from B2. The total mark allotted in Part B is 120.

Revised NATA Syllabus 2025

In the latest addition for the academic year 2024-2025, the Drawing and Composition test has been reintroduced in the NATA syllabus. The CoA has not made any changes to the NATA 2025 syllabus and it remains the same as last year.

Part A - Drawing and Composition Test Syllabus

The Drawing and Composition test syllabus comprises the following sections-

  • A1 - Composition and Colour: Creation of suitable compositions for various situations and colouring them appropriately. Re-arranging various shapes in a visually appealing manner and colouring them suitably.

  • A2 - Sketching and Composition (Black and White): Ability to draw, visualise, and depict a situation, involving buildings or its components, people, environment, products with an understanding of scale, proportions, textures, shades and shadows, etc.

  • A3 - 3D Composition: Creating interesting 3D composition for the given situation using the provided kit

Part B of the NATA 2025 syllabus comprises of

  • Virtual Reasoning: Ability to understand and reconstruct 2D and 3D composition, knowledge about its composition and technical concepts

  • Logical Derivation: Ability to decode a situation, composition, context and generate meaning. Understanding even the minute information hidden in a particular situation and drawing conclusions from it

  • GK, Architecture and Design: General awareness of architecture and design, current issues, recent episodes etc., Knowledge about important buildings, historical progression, innovation in materials and construction technology

  • Language Interpretation: Ability to correctly & logically generate the meaning of words, and sentences, understanding English grammar

  • Design Sensitivity: Ability to observe, record and analyse people, space, product, and environment. Critical thinking, reasoning and ability to identify subtle communications

  • Design Thinking: Ability to understand semantics, metaphors, problem identification and definition, and analysis of a given situation

  • Numerical Ability: Basic Mathematics and its association with creative thinking. To unfold a space with the use of geometry
