The West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination Board (WBJEEB) will conduct the WBJEE 2023 exam on April 30, 2023. Being the most popular engineering entrance examination in West Bengal, WBJEE or West Bengal Joint Entrance Exam is demanded by a lot of heads every year. Around 1.20 lakh candidates appear for the examination to secure a seat in one of the engineering institutes in West Bengal. These candidates compete for approximately 60,000 seats in different government as well as private colleges in West Bengal. The competition level is high and not everyone can manage to secure a top rank in WBJEE . What is Management Quota?

Management Quota is a technique authorized by the government of India for the private or deemed universities in India to provide direct admission to the students who do not score high scores in the entrance exams for certain courses. This procedure is certainly done because the private or the deemed universities do not receive any special allowances from the government unlike the private universities.

Management Quota in West Bengal B.Tech Colleges

All private (self-financing) colleges in West Bengal fill a certain percentage of seats (minimum 10%) under the management quota. Candidates who have a valid rank in WBJEE or a valid percentile in JEE Main are eligible for management quota admission in private colleges located in West Bengal. The admission will be based on the merit of the candidates in the entrance exam. The colleges will display a merit list based on the candidate's GMR in WBJEE or percentile in JEE Main, and the seat allotment will be done accordingly.

Eligibility Criteria for B.Tech Management Quota/Direct Admission in West Bengal

The eligibility criteria for management quota or direct admission in West Bengal through private B.Tech colleges are very simple and have been mentioned in the points below. Candidates are requested to check the eligibility criteria before proceeding with the other steps of the admission process.   • The candidate must have a valid GMR (General Merit Rank) in WBJEE or a valid percentile in JEE Main
  • The first preference in the admission process will be given to candidates with a valid GMR in WBJEE
  • Candidates who have passed Diploma in Engineering or B.Sc can also take admission through Management quota. These candidates are exempted from the entrance exam

While filling out the online/ offline application form of the respective college, the candidates will need to enter the GMR of WBJEE or JEE Main percentile.
