Updated On: September 10, 2024 01:03 PM

MAKAUT follows the Degree Grade Point Average (DGPA) grading system, and the percentage of marks obtained by students in a course is reflected in corresponding grade points. Students have to be aware of the promotion and backlog policy for going to the next semester.
MAKAUT Grading System

MAKAUT Grading System 2024 is based on DGPA or Degree Grade Point Average, which is converted into the equivalent percentage on a 10-point scale. For instance, 75% corresponds to an 8.25 grade point. The MAKAUT grade system is applied to assess academic performance, determine eligibility for a degree, and assess qualifications for higher education or employment opportunities.

Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology , earlier known as the West Bengal University of Technology, is one of the leading universities in West Bengal. The university is committed to the twin principles of promoting innovation and excelling in its functions. The university offers courses at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels in Engineering, Technology, and related disciplines.

Key Features of the MAKAUT Grading System 2024

Here are some of the key features of the MAKAUT grade system 2024:

  • Grade Points: Grade points vary in different percentage ranges. For instance, a candidate obtaining 75% will bag 8.25 grade points.
  • Semester and Overall DGPA: Students calculate the Semester DGPA they get for grades earned during that term. Overall DGPA is calculated with the DGPA of all previously completed semesters.
  • Promotion Policy: MAKAUT has set certain promotion criteria policy which allow the students to carry to the next semester or the next Academic Year. These are based on a combination of DGPA and/or the number of unresolved backlogs.
    • They should also have been in attendance in at least 75% of the classes during the previous semester before they can be qualified for the next semester.
    • Besides that, they should have cleared all internal assessments, practical exams, continuous evaluations, and sessional tests.
    • Only those who had applied for and were issued with a valid admit card from the previous semester can be allowed to sit for the end-of-semester exam.
  • Backlog Policy: A student who does not attain the required passing marks in a subject has to reappear in that subject in the next semester or academic year.

MAKAUT Internal Grading System 2024

MAKAUT Revaluation Process 2024

In case the students of MAKAUT feel that their result does not justify their performance in a particular exam, they may apply for the revaluation of their answer scripts. This process follows specific steps outlined by the university:

  • They have to download the revaluation application form from the university's official website or get it from the office concerned. The required details of the form are details of the applicant’s name, roll number, semester, subject Code, and the reason behind applying for revaluation.
  • After filling out the form, students have to pay a revaluation fee, which is normally non-refundable. The payment shall be made through the mode as prescribed by the university.
  • Upon completion of the above steps, students have to submit the application form duly filled in along with the payment receipt to the designated university office within the stipulated deadline.
  • Further, the university will provide an examiner who shall go through the answer script and establish whether the marks were correctly calculated in the first instance. Thereafter, a new mark sheet shall be issued indicating the updated marks after revaluation is done.

MAKAUT Revaluation of Results

Students need to pay the amount of INR 250 per subject for re-checking or re-totaling. The MAKAUT revaluation results are done by an entirely new set of evaluations for the whole answer script of the subject concerned. The two ways for this revaluation are:

  • Post-publication scrutiny
  • Post-publication review (PPR)

The revaluation is done by reassessment and review of the examination papers. In this, the total marks are checked with due care, and the whole response sheet is re-evaluated.

The MAKAUT grading system 2024 generally follows a standard structure as highlighted in this article. However, slight adjustments or updates may occur based on the program or academic year. Students can always refer to the official university website for the latest updates and information related to the MAKAUT grading system or directly connect with the academic department of the university.

What are the passing marks out of 70 at MAKAUT?

At MAKAUT, there are no fixed passing marks out of 70 or a percentage as you might find in some universities. For example, if your scores are 23, 18, 21, and 24, you will choose the highest two scores: 23 and 24. Add these scores together to get a total of 47.
