MBA Fees in India
range from roughly INR 15,000 to INR 35 lakh. The tuition fees at government colleges have been observed to be lower when compared to those at private MBA institutions. This is because they receive financial aid from the state or the central government to conduct their MBA programmes. Notably, the premier MBA institutes of India are the Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) where the MBA fees range from INR 16,00,000 to INR 23,00,000. There are variations in course fees even among the IIMs, for instance, the fees of PGP programme at IIM Sirmaur is INR 16,00,000, while the MBA course fees at IIM Ahmedabad is INR 23,00,000. Apart from IIMs, the MBA fees at other Tier 1 colleges in India like SPJIMR, MDI Gurgaon, IIFT Delhi, XLRI, etc. are very high, ranging from Rs. 14,00,000 to Rs. 27,00,000. However, it comes as a relief to the candidates that there are still many top MBA colleges in India like FMS Delhi and JBIMS Mumbai that offer affordable MBA courses in spite of having an excellent placement record.
The cost of pursuing an MBA is influenced by several factors, including hostel amenities, infrastructure quality, curriculum offerings, and the overall reputation of the college. When choosing an MBA college in India, students often prioritize the affordability of the fees. In this article, Collegedekho presents a list of top

Factors Determining MBA Fees in India
There is a significant difference among the fees for MBA programmes in India across different institutions owing to the following factors:
- Reputation and ranking of the institution serves as the primary criterion for the variation in fee range. Since the most premier institutions like IIMs, ISB, MDI Gurgaon, XLRI, IIFT Delhi, Symbiosis Bangalore, etc. have a greater brand value, infrastructure, alumni network, and placement records, the MBA course fees at these colleges are comparatively higher.
- MBA course fees also vary across the different modes in which the programmes are offered. For instance, a full-time MBA is the most expensive due to the comprehensive curriculum, resources, and facilities provided. An Executive MBA is also expensive since it has a tailored curriculum specifically designed for working professionals with few years of experience at the managerial level and offered by highly-qualified and experienced faculty. Compared to these, a part-time MBA and a Distance MBA have been observed to be less expensive.
- Colleges with modern infrastructure and facilities like the state-of-the-art campuses, libraries, hostels, sports facilities, etc. often demand higher course fees.
- It has also been observed that colleges with strong placement records or industry ties and high average salary packages charge higher fees.
Admission Process at MBA Colleges in India
Before enrolling in the MBA colleges in India, candidates must first determine whether they want to pursue an MBA in Finance, Marketing, HR, Operations Management, Business Analytics, International Business, or IT, etc. and then look for the institutes that offer their desired programme. Candidates must have obtained a bachelor's degree with a minimum of 50% marks (45% for reserved categories) from a recognized university and professional experience ranging from 2-5 years to seek admission to these institutes. Apart from that, clearing entrance exams like CAT/XAT/MAT also stands as mandatory. Candidates obtaining the minimum cutoff scores in the MBA entrance exams become eligible for the subsequent rounds like Group Discussion (GD) that evaluates the communication skills and group dynamics of the candidate, Personal Interview (PI) that assesses his/her personality, motivation, and competence for the programme, and Written Ability Test (WAT) that evaluates his/her written communication skills and thought process.
The final admission will be based on the Merit List created on the basis of the overall performance of the candidates in entrance exam, GD, PI, and WAT. Candidates must secure their seats after application fee payment and document verification.
