Meeting Eligibility Requirements & Appearing for Entrance Exams
Higher education aspirants must meet the eligibility criteria for their chosen stream, college, and/or postgraduate courses before they can apply for admission. The eligibility criteria for different types of courses are different. For instance, aspirants planning to pursue Medical or Technical education must have a background in Science, whereas management aspirants only need a Bachelor’s degree to pursue a majority of postgraduate management courses. It must be noted that most of the top ranking colleges in India only accept students based on their performance in relevant entrance exams.
Shortlisting for Admission/Counselling Process
Candidates who meet the eligibility criteria for their preferred course and college are shortlisted for further rounds of the admission process conducted by top NIRF ranking colleges. In some cases, once candidates have qualified for the relevant entrance exam, they are allotted seats at their preferred institutes through a counselling process conducted by either the institute individually or through a centralized conducting body. For some courses and colleges, this is the final stage of the admission process before candidates complete the final admission formalities.
Appearing for Selection Process Rounds
Following a shortlisting of all eligible and qualified candidates for further rounds of assessment, the selected candidates must participate for the selection rounds, which are either conducted individually by the institute or through a Centralised Admission Process. These selection rounds usually consist of Group Discussions, Personal Interviews, and Written Ability Tests. Certain institutes may conduct only one of these rounds, while others may include all three, depending on their specific admission requirements.
Final Selection
Finally, candidates who are able to successfully clear all rounds of the admission process are offered their admission letters which they must accept and complete the final admission formalities to secure the seat at their preferred educational institute.
