SET 2020 Online Proctored Test: Instructions to Take the Exam From Home

Candidates who are taking the Symbiosis Engineering Entrance Exam (SITEEE)/ Symbiosis Law Admission Test (SLAT)/ SET-General 2020 must go through the instructions laid out by SIU before you take the test.

SET 2020 Instructions for Online Test

In view of the COVID-19 pandemic and the nation-wide lockdown, the candidates who applied for the Symbiosis Engineering Entrance Exam (SITEEE)/ Symbiosis Law Admission Test (SLAT)/ SET-General 2020 will now have to take the test in online mode. This means that they can take the test from the comfort of their homes. For candidates to understand how the remotely-proctored test is going to be conducted, the Symbiosis International University (SIU) has put forward certain instructions.

The tests will be invigilated using Artificial Intelligence as well as Human Proctoring to ensure that no candidate is involved in any malpractice during the test.

SIU is the conducting body of the exam which was going to be held on 31st May, 2020. However, the exam was been postponed due to the coronavirus outbreak. The last date to apply for SITEEE/SLAT/SET-General had also been extended until 20th May, 2020. The new dates for SET 2020 have been announced by the university. SET (A) will be held on 18th and 19th June 2020 and SET (B) will be conducted on 19th July 2020. Considering the current COVID-19 situation, the university has taken the decision of cancelling the Symbiosis Entrance Exam for Design (SEED) for the current academic year. Read further to find all the details regarding the SET General/ SLAT/ SITEEE 2020 online proctored test.

Basic Requirements for SET General/ SLAT/SITEEE 2020 Online Test

Candidates must make sure that they meet these basic requirements in order to ensure a smooth experience while giving the exam:

  • The desktop/laptop must have an integrated or external webcam and an internet connection with an uninterrupted speed of 5 Mbps.

  • RAM should be minimum 4GB of RAM Processor which must be Intel Core i3 or above.

  • Operating System must be any of Windows 7, 8, 10 and Ubuntu LINUX (14.1 and 16) version.

  • HDD- At least 100 MB of free space should be available.

  • Internet connectivity- There must be 5 Mbps un-interrupted internet speed.

  • Browser- Make sure zoom level of browser is at 100%.

  • Software prerequisites: Internet-Based Assessments (IBA) need to be taken by candidates. Assessments will only be taken through IBA launchers.

  • Windows 10 - Google Chrome - All versions.

  • Windows 10 - Firefox - Not supported.

  • Windows 10 - Internet Explorer - All versions will work.

  • Windows 7 - Firefox - Only Version 46 to 56.

  • Windows 8 – Google Chrome – Every version will do.

  • Windows 7 - Internet Explorer - All the versions will work fine.

  • Windows 8 – Firefox – Up to version 56.

  • Windows 8 – IE – All versions.

  • Windows 7 - Google Chrome - All versions.

  • iOS and Android – Not Supported.

  • Ubuntu - All versions.

  • Make sure that the laptop is connected to the charger so that its battery does not drain during the assessment.

  • The keyboard must be working for SET General and SLAT candidates (for use during the Written Ability Test).

  • There must be undisturbed supply of electrical power if you are using a Desktop PC.

General Instructions for SET General/ SLAT/ SITEEE 2020 Online Test

Given below are some basic instructions that candidates need to follow while giving the SET General/ SLAT/ SITEEE online test:

  • Sit in front of the laptop or desktop to face the screen and webcam until the test gets over.

  • Sit in a way that there is enough lighting to let the invigilator see your face clearly.

  • Wear formals or smart casuals for the test.

  • Ensure that no other individual is present while you are taking the test.

  • Keep a mobile phone with the registered phone number in close proximity for the authorities to contact whenever necessary.

  • No other electronic device should be used.

Instructions to Follow During SET General/ SLAT/ SITEEE 2020 Online Test

Have a look at the instructions laid down by SIU that candidates need to follow while taking any of these tests:

  • DO NOT open any other application window while taking the test. It will be regarded as a violation.

  • Images and videos of the candidate will be supervised and recorded by AI and a human proctor in real-time.

  • Do not leave the seat during the test. It will also be regarded as a violation.

  • Candidates cannot take a bio break during the test.

  • Use of a calculator is prohibited. Candidates can do the rough work on a plain paper using a pencil.

  • Speaking or talking or using phones/tablets during the test will also not be allowed.

  • Do not change the position of the camera.

  • The test will be submitted automatically.

  • Use the same laptop for all the tests.

A mock test was also scheduled to be held on 24th May, 2020, from 11 AM to 11:45 AM in order to help candidates understand the online proctored exam but that stands postponed as well. All SET/SLAT/SITEEE paid candidates should take this mock test whenever it is held now.
