Campus at a Glimpse

Surrounded by lush greenery, the Shree Guru Gobind Singh Tricentenary University (SGT University) campus is surely enticing to one’s eyes. It is known as one of the best universities in Delhi, NCR. Established in 2013, it is University Grants Commission (UGC)-approved. SGT University is also approved by AICTE. The university is also a member of the Association of Indian Universities (AIU).

At present, SGT University has 18 faculties through which it offers 160+ courses in different disciplines. SGT University courses are available for undergraduate, postgraduate, and Ph.D courses in streams like Engineering and Technology, Commerce and Management, Education, Law, Science, Nursing, Pharmacy, etc.

However, there’s more to SGT University than an ample number of courses and recognitions. If the reviews of students are to be believed, there are not many placements opportunities available, even though the university boasts about them. The MBBS students are required to do compulsory internships, but there is no stipend provided to students for them.

NIRF Ranking: From Good to Great!

SGT University has been participating in NIRF rankings since 2020. SGT University has been ranked 100th by the NIRF in the 'Pharmacy' category for the year 2022. However, the institute was not ranked in 2023 or 2021.

Our Take
Even though SGT University has been ranked in the top 100 Pharmacy universities in India as per NIRF 2022, its absence in 2023 and 2021 raises questions. Maybe SGT University didn't participate in 2021 and 2023 for some reason. Another reason can be that their score might not have been high enough to secure a position in the subsequent years due to increased competition or changes in ranking methodology.

SGT University Academia & Batch

Every course at SGT University is divided into two components: theory and practical. The final result for each course is released by combining these 2 components. Also, the exams are conducted in the midterm and endterm. The minimum passing mark for each subject is 40 marks. A total of 161 credits is required for each degree. Candidates who fail in any subject will have to reappear for the respective subject.

Attendance Policy

Every student needs to maintain a minimum of 75% attendance, including all lectures, tutorials, and practicals. A student with less than 75% attendance in a course, shall be detained from appearing in the examinations of the respective course. Candidates will have to reappear for the class in which they have less than 75% attendance.

Batch Size

The batch size at SGT University varies depending on the course. However, the average batch size is around 60 students per class.

Seat Intake

The seat intake at SGT University varies depending on the course. Usually, each course has a seat intake of 240. The total seat intake for undergraduate and graduate programs is over 10,000.

Our Take

The overall academic system of SGT University is fine. The vast number of course options is also impressive. However, one thing that caught our attention is the strict attendance policy. Even though having an attendance policy is not bad, failing students because of it feels rigorous. According to us, the University needs to replace failing criteria with something less stern, like fines on tuition fees, punishment, etc.

SGT University Infrastructure

Classroom:

SGT University has spacious and well-equipped classrooms. All classrooms are equipped with state-of-the-art teaching aids, such as smartboards and projectors. The classrooms are also air-conditioned and have comfortable seating arrangements.

Auditorium/ Seminar Halls:

The university has a large auditorium and several seminar halls. The auditorium is used for conferences, seminars, and other large gatherings. The seminar halls are used for smaller events, such as guest lectures and workshops.

Labs:

The university has well-equipped laboratories for all its programs. The laboratories are equipped with the latest equipment and software. Students have access to the laboratories 24/7.

Library: The university has a well-stocked library with a wide range of books and journals. The library also has a digital section with access to online databases and e-books.

Internet:

The entire campus is Wi-Fi enabled. Students have access to high-speed internet throughout the campus.

Hostel:

The university has separate hostels for boys and girls. The hostels are well-equipped and offer comfortable accommodation to students. The hostels also have mess facilities and other amenities such as sports facilities, a gym, and laundry.

Cafe/ Hang-out:

The campus has several cafes and hang-out places where students can relax and socialize. There are also several food courts on campus where students can get a variety of food options.

Overall, SGT University has excellent infrastructure facilities to support its academic and extracurricular activities. Students use the library to help with their exam preparations. SGT University placement data 2023 has not been released yet. As per the SGT University Placement 2020-21 report, it achieved 82.44% placements. A total of 131 students registered for placements and 108 students got placed. The average package offered to students through placement was INR 6 LPA. Our Take

Even though the university has released good placement statistics through its placement 2020-21 report, the students on Quora have complained that it does not have good placements. Students have shared that a few companies visit campus for placements of Commerce & Humanities students. The median package offered by SGT University is also lower as compared to the higher tuition fee charged. This reflects badly when it comes to ROI.

SGT University Location

SGT University is located in Chandu-Budhera, on the outskirts of Gurugram, Haryana. The campus is located less than 5 km from the Delhi border in Daurala and offers convenient access to Indira Gandhi International Airport in Palam, Delhi. Being on the outskirts of Gurugram, the area does not have as many amenities as urban areas. This means that students will have to travel further to get to shops, restaurants, and other attractions.
