Students who have successfully cleared the JEE Main 2025 and JEE Advanced 2025 exams are eligible to take part in the JoSAA counselling. Every candidate must fill out their preferred institute and course during the registration process. The JoSAA (Joint Seat Allocation Authority) has activated the registration window for the JoSAA counselling on June 3, 2025, at 5:00 PM. Candidates who have qualified for the JEE Advanced 2025 and JEE Mains exam are eligible to participate in the counselling conducted by JoSAA for admission to IITs, NITs, IIITs and GFTIs. IIT Kanpur will monitor the admission to IITs as the conducting authority. On the other hand, the admission to the NIT+ system will be monitored by the NIT Rourkela. The registration for the JoSAA counselling will continue till June 12, 2025. Before the closing of the registration window, candidates will have to register for the counselling and lock their choices to be eligible for the counselling rounds.
What is Spot Round in JoSAA Counselling 2025?
In the context of JOSAA counselling 2025 (Joint Seat Allocation Authority), a spot round is an additional round of counselling conducted to fill the vacant seats in participating institutes after the completion of regular rounds of counselling. The spot round provides an opportunity for those candidates who may not have secured a seat in the earlier rounds or who are seeking admission after the regular counselling process has concluded.

During the spot round, candidates who have already registered and paid the counselling fee but did not get any seats, as well as those who did not register earlier, can participate. The vacant seats from various participating institutes are made available, and eligible candidates can fill their choices based on the availability of seats. JoSAA Seat Allotment 2025 - Available Options
The seat allotment procedure is conducted through the centralised counselling process. Every candidate will be allotted seats and courses at participating institutes on the basis of the rank obtained in JEE Main 2025 or JEE Advanced examination. After the allocation of seats, candidates will get an option to either freeze, float, withdraw or slide their allotted seats. The JEE Main exam rank required for securing admission into an Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) depends upon the institute, course, and the category of the candidate. The higher the JEE Main rank, the greater the chance of securing admission into the IITs.
Yes. JoSAA manages the admissions process for providing admissions across the Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs), National Institutes of Technology (NITs), Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), and the Government Funded Technical Institutes (GFTIs).
JoSAA is in charge of releasing the seat matrix for the participating colleges on its official website, josaa.nic.in. This JoSSA matrix displays the available seats for each B. Tech course across the NITs, GFTIs, IIITs and IITs. Admission into these institutes is determined by the JEE Main entrance exam scores.
In the JoSAA choice filling process, candidates are allowed to enter and arrange their choices of institutes and colleges according to their wish to be admitted to. Candidates are suggested to fill as many choices as possible in order of their preference to increase their chances of seat allotment in JoSAA.
In case, a new seat is not allotted to a candidate in the CSAB-Special round, then the JoSAA seat will be retained with the candidates.
If one does not lock their choices, the last saved choices will be locked automatically upon reaching the deadline for the JoSAA choice filling. The automatically locked choice list will be considered for allocating a seat during the JoSAA counselling process.
In the JoSAA counseling process 2025, it is generally possible to modify the order of your filled up choices and remove certain choices after the results of round 1 seat allotment is out. However, adding new choices is usually not permitted in the subsequent rounds.
There is no charge for the JoSAA choice filling 2025, but there's a seat acceptance fee (SAF) of ₹ 20,000 for the SC/ST/PwD category candidates and ₹ 45,000 for the General/OBC-NCL/GEN-EWS category candidates.
For the JoSAA counselling 2025 of the general category, candidates are required to secure a minimum of 75% aggregate marks. For the reserved category candidates, the minimum aggregate mark to be secured is 65%. However, if the candidates come under the top 20 percentile of their board, then they will also be eligible for admission.
Candidates who have secured a position in the JEE Main or JEE Advanced merit list 2025 but have not been offered admission till the JoSAA Spot round are eligible to participate in the JoSAA spot round counselling 2025.
Spot Round in the JoSAA counselling process 2025 refers to an additional round of counselling conducted for the purpose of filling the vacant seats left at the JoSAA participating institutes after the completion of regular rounds of the JoSAA counselling process 2025.
Candidates must note that every candidate possessing a valid rank of the JEE Main 2025 exam or the JEE Advanced 2025 exam and fulfilling the necessary eligibility criteria of the JoSAA spot round 2025 admission are eligible to participate in the JoSAA spot round counselling 2025.
