What is Spot Round in JoSAA Counselling 2024?
In the context of JOSAA counselling 2024 (Joint Seat Allocation Authority), a spot round is an additional round of counselling conducted to fill the vacant seats in participating institutes after the completion of regular rounds of counselling. The spot round provides an opportunity for those candidates who may not have secured a seat in the earlier rounds or who are seeking admission after the regular counselling process has concluded.

During the spot round, candidates who have already registered and paid the counselling fee but did not get any seats, as well as those who did not register earlier, can participate. The vacant seats from various participating institutes are made available, and eligible candidates can fill their choices based on the availability of seats. In the spot round of JoSAA counselling 2024, the seats are allocated based on the merit list, candidate preferences, and availability of seats at that point in the counselling process.

JoSAA Seat Allotment 2024 - Available Options
The seat allotment procedure is conducted through the centralised counselling process. Every candidate will be allotted seats and courses at participating institutes on the basis of the rank obtained in JEE Main 2024 or JEE Advanced examination. After the allocation of seats, candidates will get an option to either freeze, float, withdraw or slide their allotted seats. Freeze | When candidates are satisfied with the allotted institute and course they can accept the allotment and freeze their respective seat |

Float | When candidates want to keep the allotted seat but are at the same time willing to participate in the next rounds of counselling, then he/she can choose the float option |
Withdraw | When the candidate is not willing to take admission in a particular institute the student can withdraw their seat allotted by visiting the allotted institution |
Slide | When the student is satisfied with the allotted institute but wishes to change the course within the college allotted then he/she can choose the slide option |
