Apart from that, badminton courts are available in the University College of Commerce and Business Management Building and Ladies Hostel. Telangana University is a member of the Inter-University Sports Board of India and students participate in All India Inter-University tournaments on a regular basis.
Our Take:
The campus has all basic facilities for students other than hostels. Firstly, hostels are situated outside the campus. Secondly, students have questioned the quality of food served in the mess. They have also shed light on substandard and untended hostel rooms. The university needs a check on its hostel maintenance.

Telangana University Diversity and Demographics
Telangana University- Gender Ratio
Particulars | UG 3-Year | PG 2-Year | PG 3-Year | PG-Integrated |
---|---|---|---|---|
Male | 90 | 705 | 43 | 259 |
Female | 45 | 825 | 33 | 143 |
Female Percentage | 33.33 | 53.92 | 43.42 | 35.57 |
Our Take
With 33.33% of female population at UG 3-year programme, 53.92% at PG 2-year, 43.42% at PG 3-year and 35.57% at PG-integrated programme, the male-to-female ratio is considerably balanced.
Telangana University- Diversity Representation
As per NIRF Report 2023, Telangana University has 100% student population from the state itself. Tabulated below is the total student count of Telangana University:
Particulars | UG 3-Year | PG 2-Year | PG 3-Year | PG-Integrated |
---|---|---|---|---|
Within State | 135 | 1530 | 76 | 402 |
Our Take:
On research, we found that Telangana University offers admission to both local and non-local students. However, here is the catch! 85% seats are reserved for local students from Adilabad and Nizamabad districts. Only for courses with fewer than 3 seats, the reservation policy does not apply. Despite the seats available, a minimum of one unreserved seat is available for which both local and non-locals can compete. This can be one reason why Telangana University has no students from outside Telangana.
Telangana University Faculty Administration/Management
As per the Telangana University NIRF Report 2023, there are a total of 123 faculty. The student-faculty ratio is 17: 1, which is favourable. Tabulated below is the faculty details of the university:
Categories | Permanent Faculty | Contractual Faculty |
---|---|---|
Overall | 71 | 52 |
Management | 5 | 2 |
Law | 4 | 1 |
Our Take:
As per the data shared above, the permanent faculty count is more than the number of contractual professors. This signifies that teachers are not frequently transferred which is useful for students as they usually get used to a professor’s style of teaching. It becomes difficult for them to adjust if the professors keep on changing. In the management and law departments, the ratio between permanent and contractual faculty is healthy.
Regarding the university administration and management, students are not quite satisfied with how the work is done. Moreover, if news is to be believed, ACB sleuths red-handily caught Telangana University vice-chancellor while taking a bribe of Rs 50,000. Officials have shared that the VC took the bribe in exchange for considering a request for allotting an examination centre to a college. There were many other allegations against him during his two years of tenure. Here is a news snippet of the same:
Source: The New Indian Express
Students have also shared that the examinations are not conducted on time and there is a delay in results every time without any prior intimation. Discrepancies occur at the time of paper correction as well. Quite a few students on many social media platforms shared a bad review of the university’s integrated applied economics department. On further research, we have found that students are not satisfied with the quality of teaching offered in the Economics department.
Telangana University Location
Telangana University is located in Nizamabad, Telangana. The campus is nestled in a peaceful environment at a distance of 2.7 km from the Dichapally Railway Station. Nizamabad Bus Stop is at a distance of 25 km from the university campus. The closest airport is Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Hyderabad at a distance of 244 km from the university.
Our Take:
As much as students enjoy the peaceful atmosphere of the university campus, transportation has been an issue. Students have expressed that there is no proper transportation facility available making it difficult for students to visit the university. The absence of proper university conveyance options also adds to the problem.
Telangana University Expectations vs Reality - CollegeDekho Verdict
Telangana University falls under the new-generation universities. It is evident that the university is currently at the development stage and the students expressed that they expect a lot of upgradation in the infrastructural facilities in the coming years. The facilities that are currently available are good, however, there is a need to include more facilities like smart classrooms, laboratories, auditoriums, seminar halls etc for the universities to function properly. The official website is not updated as well which makes it difficult for students to stay updated.
