TNPSC Group 1 exam which is scheduled to be conducted on April 05, 2020, has been postponed due to Coronavirus outbreak and Tamil Nadu lockdown until April 14, 2020. TNPSC has released the TNPSC Group 1 Exam 2020 notification in January 2020. The exam is conducted in 3 phases namely, the prelims, mains exam and the personal interview. TNPSC New Mandatory Changes in Rules 2020 (Important)
TNPSC has introduced 6 new bold and mandatory changes in the rules and format of the exam. It is very important for the candidates to read these changes as to not face any issues later. These 6 changes in TNPSC exam are:
- Aadhar Card has been made mandatory for the candidates while applying for the exam. It is to prevent the candidates to apply for more than one exam. The examination board will check and compare the fingerprints of the students before allowing them to sit for the exam.
- The examination board will upload the list of candidates after the examination process is completed.
- The candidates can also download their respective answer keys after the examination by paying a certain fee.
- Candidates can opt for 3 districts as their exam centre. However, the final centre will be allotted by the TNPSC examination board.
- After the counselling is completed, the list will be released including all the details of selection such as department, district, reservations, etc.
- Hi-tech devise/system would be deployed at the examination centres to prevent any maloperations at the examination hall.

TNPSC Group-1 Exam Eligibility 2020
The applicant needs to fulfil the following eligibility criteria for TNPSC Group-1 Exam:
The applicant must have pursued a Bachelor’s degree from any recognised university. The students who are in their final year of graduation can also apply for the exam.
For the TNPSC Group-1 Exam posts, the applicant should possess a proficient knowledge of Tamil language.
The age limit for TNPSC Group-1 Exam candidates is between 21-32 years. However, SC/ST/OBC category students can apply with an upper age limit of 37 years. Also, age relaxation for 10 years has been provided to the PWD category and upper age limit of 52 years for ex-servicemen category students.
For the vacancy of District officer and Deputy Superintendent of Police, the applicant must meet certain physical criteria in terms of height, weight and chest measurements.
TNPSC Group-1 Exam Application Form 2020
Students can apply for the TNPSC Group-1 Exam through the online application before February 1, 2020. Applicants need to follow the given below steps to fill the online application form:
The applicant needs to visit the official site of TNPSC and login with his/her username and password.
The applicant will then click on the ‘current application’ and then ‘apply now’ link.
The applicant will select the TNPSC Group-1 Exam from the list.
The applicant will upload all the required documents including exam centre details, educational certificates, and address for communication.
The applicant will tick on the ‘I Confirm’ box and submit the form.
The applicant will have to submit the application fee in the next step which can be submitted through debit card, credit card or NEFT.
After fee submission, the applicant must download the form for future references.
Note: the registration fee for the TNPSC Group-1 Exam application is INR 150 with INR 100 as the prelims examination fee and INR 200 for the main examination fee. For offline payment, the applicant needs to get the payslip online and deposit the money in any SBI branch.

TNPSC Group-1 Exam Exam Pattern 2020
The TNPSC Group-1 Prelims Exam will be of 3 hours duration, consisting of 200 multiple choice questions with a total of 300 marks. Out of those, 150 questions will be from General Knowledge and the remaining 50 questions will be from the aptitude & Mental ability test. The prelims exam will be of objective type and the candidates will be evaluated for the mains exam with a ration of 1:50.
The mains exam will be the descriptive type which will consist of 3 papers holding 250 marks for each paper. The exam will be of 3 hours duration. There will be no negative marking in the mains exam as well as Prelims.
After qualifying the Prelims and Mains, the applicant will have to appear for the final personal interview round which will be of 100 marks.
