1. United Shuttlers Badminton Academy

United Shuttlers Badminton Academy was started in the year 2011 by popular badminton players Ajay Kanwar and Manjusha Kanwar. The couple established the academy in East Delhi. It is the only academy in North India that is affiliated to Pullela Gopichand Academy, Hyderabad.

Ajay Kanwar, who was one of the founders of the academy, participated in the Thomas Cup, International Championships and World Badminton Championships. His wife Manjusha Kanwar also has many titles under her belt.

Registration and Fees: There is no registration fee to join this academy. However, the monthly fee for members is Rs. 2,500, while the monthly fee for non-members is Rs. 3,125.

2. M.V. Bisht Academy

M.V Bisht Academy was started by a famous badminton player, Madhumita Bisht. She was a national level champion who made the nation proud several times by winning a bronze medal at Asian Games in Delhi. She was one among the core group coaches who coached the Indian Badminton team for London Olympics 2016. Her husband, Vikram Bisht was also a bronze medallist in badminton in Asian Games 1982.

At present, Bisht Academy has three branches in Delhi and is considered as one of the best badminton academies in India. The academy has three indoor courts. The academy offers specialized coaching with the help of new techniques under the guidance of Mr.Virendar Singh.

3. Pullela Gopichand Badminton Academy

PGBA (Pullela Gopichand Badminton Academy) is a popular badminton training facility in Hyderabad. It was founded in the year 2001 by All England Open Badminton Champion, Pullela Gopichand. P.V Sindhu, who bagged the silver medal in Rio Olympics, was trained here. The academy has produced many top-level badminton players including Saina Nehwal.

The Pullela Gopichand Badminton Academy has eight courts, weight training room, a swimming pool, cafeteria and others.

The academy has also served as a venue for major sporting events in India. The students, who have been trained in this academy, won 2 Olympic Medals (Silver and Bronze) as well as three World Championship Medals (One Silver and Two Bronze). Apart from these, the academy has also won many other national and international laurels.

4. Prakash Padukone Badminton Academy

PPBA (Prakash Padukone Badminton Academy) was set up in the year 1994 by popular badminton players Prakash Padukone, Vivek Kumar and Vimal Kumar. It is one of the most reputed badminton coaching centres in India. PPBA has collaborations with Morton Frost’s Aarhus Badminton Academy – Denmark and Badminton England.

PPBA's Chief Coach is Vimal Kumar, who has previously won a Bronze Medal at Seoul Asian Games. He has also held responsibility as the Chief National Coach at IBF World Badminton Academy from the year 2003 to 2006.

It has five courts, a swimming pool and a squash court. The training methodology of the academy includes sports psychology, nutritional guidance, physical, mental and technical training.

National players and those who have taken up academic streams of Arts and Commerce will be preferred for the admission to PPBA. At present, PPBA is only focusing on training younger age groups.

6. SAI’s Badminton Training Centre

SAI’s Badminton Training Centre was started by the Sports Authority of India in 1982. The training centre comes under the Ministry of Sports, Government of India. The training academy has 10 courts. The selected trainees will be provided with boarding and lodging facilities by SAI’s Training Centre.

Eligibility: The academy trains students from the age group of 12 to 18 years.

How to Apply: An official notification will be issued by Sports Authority of India for the admission to SAI’s Badminton Training Centre.

7. Ardor Badminton Academy (ABA)

Ardor Badminton Academy is a Delhi based academy started by Arun Khurana, the former badminton coach. Arun has worked in the sports department of the Directorate of Education, Delhi. The academy has expert professionals on-board and features 4 courts that are indoor. The academy is located in Rohini, Delhi. It trains the students intensely and believes in building professionals.

Eligibility: Anyone above the age of eight is eligible to enrol in the academy for training.

Timings: 10 AM to 9 PM on Monday, 6 AM to 9 PM from Tuesday to Saturday and 6 AM to 6 PM on Sunday

Registration and Fees: The fee ranges from Rs. 1,000 to Rs. 1,500 depending on the training centre.
