UP Board Exam Date 2022 was released on March 8, 2022 and the board conducted the final examinations from March 24 to April 12, 2022. The delay in the start of exams was due to the COVID-19 situation, however, after that, the board had started conducting the final exams from February. The theory exams continue for almost a month. On the other hand, class 10, 12 practical exams will be held from January last week to February. Both the exams will take place in offline mode for Class 10 and class 12. In the first phase, UPMSP Class 12 practical exams will take place in Agra, Saharanpur, Bareilly, Lucknow, Jhansi, Chitrakoot, Faizabad, Azamgarh, Devipatan and Basti. The second phase of practical exams will be held in Aligarh, Meerut, Moradabad, Kanpur, Prayagraj, Mirzapur, Varanasi and Gorakhpur. Students appearing for class 10 or 12 examinations can check and download the UP Board 10th time table 2025 as well as UP Board 12th time table 2025 from the official website, upmsp.edu.in. Importance of Half Yearly Exams in UP Board
The Uttar Pradesh board conducts the half yearly exams of Classes 10 and 12 in the second or third week of October, that is, in the mid-way of the academic year. The half yearly practical exams are conducted in the last week of September. And the results of half yearly exams will be out by the first week of November. The pre-board written examinations of Classes 10 and 12 are conducted between January 13 and 22, just before the final exams. The half yearly exams are important as they gives a scenario of how and where to improve a student's progress. This also helps to provide an understanding of the syllabus covered till that time. Moreover, through the half yearly exams, students will be able to cover more than 50% of the syllabus, leading to the completion of the syllabus on time before the final exam.
The marking scheme of classes 10 and 12 in half yearly or pre-board examinations is the same as the final exams. The exam includes 70 questions, with 50 marks for descriptive questions and 20 marks for objective questions. Except for Science, all other subjects have the theory and internal exams for 80 and 20 marks, respectively. Science is allocated with 70 marks theory and 30 marks practical exam. Similarly, the question paper of UP Board 12th exam 2025 is divided into two sections, A and B, where section A will include MCQs, and section B will have subjective type questions. The maximum weightage of each subject is 100 marks. In the practical based subjects, the theory paper has 70 and the practical paper has 30 marks. For non-practical subjects, the total marks for the theory paper are 100. In the half yearly exams, students need to score at least 33% marks in each subject to pass the exam.
UP Board Exam Date 2022 - Practical Exams and Viva Questions
The total marks allotted for the practical exams for UP Board 10, 12 are 30 marks according to the CCE pattern. Even in the UP 12th practical examination, students are required to obtain a minimum of 33% marks to pass the exam. Based on the student's performance and internal evaluations in the practical examinations, the respective schools will assign grades to them. The school will share the exact days of the practical examinations as per the discussions between school authorities and the examiner assigned to the school.UP Board 10th Practical Exam Viva Questions
- The 30 marks of the practical exam/internal assessments will based on internal tests and practicals.
- The internal assessment is grouped into 4 categories.
- First Internal Assessment Examination (Experimental and Project Work) will be held in August for 10 points
- Second Internal Assessment Examination (Experimental and Project Work) will be held in December for 10 points
- 3-4 monthly exams: First Monthly Examination (Based on Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ)) in May
- Second Monthly Examination (Based on Descriptive Questions) in July
- Third Monthly Examination (Based on Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ)) in November
- Fourth monthly examination (based on descriptive questions) in December
- The sum of marks that students secure in all four monthly examinations will be converted into 10 marks.
UP Board 12th Practical Exam Viva Questions
- Out of 30 marks, students need to obtain at least 10 marks in the practical exams.
- The 50% marks of the practical exam will be given by the internal examiner/teacher of the respective subjects of respective schools.
- The remaining 50% marks will be provided by the external examiner.
- In Physics, questions will be asked - a. To determine the refractive index of a glass block by moving a microscope. b. Determining the refractive index of a liquid by plane mirror and convex lens. c. Verifying Ohm's law by ammeter and voltmeter and finding the specific resistance of the material of the wire. d. To determine the internal resistance of a cell with the help of voltmeter and resistance box. To find resistance and efficiency of galvanometer by half deflection method.
- In Chemistry, questions can be asked about enthalpy change in hydrogen bond formation between acetone and chloroform.
- Students may have to study the change in cell potential with change in concentration of electrolyte CuSO4 or ZnSO4 in Zn/Zn2+//Cu2+/Cu at normal temperature.
- In Biology, experiments will be based on: a. To study plant population density by quadrat method. b. DN from available plant materials like spinach, green peas, papaya, etc. c. Study of different stages of gamete development in cross section of testis and ovary (any mammalian) with the help of permanent slides. c. To study the genetic characteristics with the help of prepared pedigree chart.
UP Board Preparation Tips
- Students are advised to obtain full marks in the practical exams, as this will improve the overall marks of the respective subjects.
- List down the UPMSP 10th, 12th syllabus and topics for the practical exam, and prepare accordingly.
- Keep the concepts and basics very clear. Memorising all the experiments can result in a blunder. Try to understand the concepts behind the experiments.
- It is important to cover the entire syllabus of UP Board 10, 12 practical exams. Questions asked in the viva are short and tricky. Hence complete the syllabus to prepare for all types of questions.
