JoSAA Counselling 2025 – Detailed Procedure

The JoSAA counselling 2025 is a long procedure involving multiple phases or important steps, such as online registration, JoSAA 2025 choice filling and locking, document verification, seat allotment, acceptance of seat and fee payment, and finally, reporting to the JoSAA participating institutes for admission. Thus, candidates must be well aware of the detailed process when appearing for the counselling rounds. Here, we have explained all the stages of JoSAA counselling.

Step 1: Online Registration
The first step of JoSAA counselling is the registration process, which is conducted online. JEE Mains and JEE Advanced qualifiers are required to complete the registration successfully before the deadline. Candidates can log in to the JoSAA counselling portal with their JEE roll number and password to register online.

Step 2: Choice Filling & Locking
The next step involves filling out their preferred choices of courses and colleges. It must be noted that those candidates who have passed the JEE Mains will have the option to choose from IIITs, NITs, and GFTIs while those with a rank in JEE Advanced will be able to choose from the different IITs when marking their choices. Furthermore, applicants will be able to arrange or edit their choices, or even delete some in case of multiple markings before a final review. After that, they must save and ‘Lock’ the marked choices and take a printout of the same for future reference. It must be noted that if candidates fail to lock their choices before the last date, the system will auto-lock the preferences regardless.

Step 3: Seat Allotment
Seats are allotted to candidates based on merit, category, availability, and preferences. Thus, the choices marked and submitted by applicants in the previous stage are taken into account at the time of allocation.

Step 4: Seat Acceptance & Fee Payment
Following the completion of the JoSAA seat allotment, candidates are required to pay the Seat Acceptance Fee (SAF) to confirm the allotted seats and proceed to the document verification round. Candidates can choose to make the payment using any online gateway, such as net banking, debit card or credit card, as per their convenience. After the payment of fees, candidates must take a printout of the payment gateway page and the seat allotment page. They must also download the provisional seat allotment letter for the record.

Step 5: Document Verification & Final Reporting
For candidates who are registered, have uploaded the necessary documents, and paid the seat acceptance fee, online document verification will be conducted by the JoSAA virtual reporting centers within the scheduled dates. Only after the verification of documents, candidates will finally be summoned to report to the allotted institute/college for admission.

It's possible to get into the CSE branch at SASTRA University with an 88.99 percentile in JEE Main and 949 marks in AP Board, but it is highly competitive (commenting based on previous years' analysis).
