The location for the construction of the new campus for National Institute of Technology, Patna has shifted from Dumri Village in Bihta to Sikandarpur Village, Bihta. The present campus is spread over 25 acres of land whereas 100 acres of land had been promised to the college by the state government.
Due to the delay in the acquisition of land, NIT Patna had started expanding the present campus. The administration has already built up new girls' hostel, a new electrical department building and new staff quarters.
In the last alumni meet, CM Nitish Kumar had promised the accession of the land allotted for NIT at Dumri Village very soon but the residents opposed the construction, so the location had to be shifted. The district administration has promised the transfer of possession of the new land to the NIT soon.
The National Institute of Technology , Patna intends to use the present building at Ashok Rajpath, in Patna to run management courses, once the department at the present campus are shifted to Bihta.
