Bhupendra Chudasama, Education Minister of Gujarat, revealed that a total number of 157 Memorandums of Understanding or MoUs in the education sector would be signed at 'Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit' which is going to take place from January 10 to January 13, 2017. One of the highlights among the MoUs is a sum of Rs. 1,000 crore investment for establishing two private universities.

Bhupendra revealed that the government had approved 157 investment intentions out of which seven investments are for setting up private universities, eight research institutes and startups, 18 knowledge and skill development centres and 103 educational institutions. He indicated that the government had received 185 proposals out of which 157 have been confirmed. The investments through this MoUs ranges between Rs. 1,000 crore to Rs. 1,500 crore.
A sum of Rs. 1,000 crore will be invested for the establishment of Amity University and another Rs. 1,000 crore for Indrasheel University. Through these MoUs, various institutes will come up which include medical, ayurvedic, engineering, pharmacy, architecture and startup institutes.

In the year 2015, a total number of 96 MoUs were signed in the education sector. Out of them, 90 were realised.
One of the officials expressed that setting up of more institutes through these MoUs will generate exceptional employment opportunities. On the whole, Amity University might generate a total number of 1,500 employment opportunities, and a total number of 6,300 jobs are expected to be generated by Asia Charitable Trust. The government of Gujarat is taking extensive steps for promoting higher education as well as generating employment opportunities.
