Baba Farid University of Health Sciences (BFHUS) commenced the fourth phase counselling process for BDS course on September 6, 2017, that will conclude today. Around 290 BDS seats are still vacant in various dental colleges in Punjab. A total number of 355 seats were offered in the fourth round counselling process including 288 management quota seats. Only 65 seats were filled leaving about 290 seats vacant.

Out of the 290 vacant BDS seats in Punjab, 245 seats come under management quota while 65 are government quota seats. Over the past few years, students are losing interest in joining BDS course in Punjab. Further, private institutes have even reduced the fee for BDS course to attract more students. Despite various efforts of private colleges, 245 seats have remained unfilled. According to the recent directive of Supreme Court, September 7, 2017, is the deadline to complete the admission process for medical and dental courses based on NEET.

The varsity concluded the counselling process for MBBS course on September 6, 2017.
Next year, NEET examination will have uniform question paper in all the languages. The central government has considered the issues that happened this year regarding the differences in the difficulty level of regional question papers and English paper. Therefore, the central will maintain uniformity while preparing the question paper in regional languages. NEET-UG 2018 question paper in regional languages will be a mere translation of English medium question paper.
