According to Prime Minister Narendra Modi , by creating modern infrastructure, education and health care facilities and digital connectivity, more than 300 villages will soon be transformed into growth centers by the government.
All this comes under the National Urban Mission which aims at improving the quality of life and employment rate in villages.

He also said that currently in India, there are many smart cities but there is lack of smart villages as the facilities available to people in the cities are not available to the people in the villages. With the aim to make more than 300 villages smart villages, National Urban Mission is 'Smart City Plus' and will aim at making these villages emerge as growth centers.
The government will be working to make the infrastructure and other facilities in the villages identical to that of the cities so that the village retains its soul and is also transformed in such a manner that the people meet the basic amenities. Also, these villages will act as growth centers where people can visit to obtain basic health care, education facilities.

With the aim to promote rural development, PM Modi urged 135 crores to use khadi and handloom in at least 5 per cent of their clothing needs on the National Handloom day.
By doing this, people can promote the textile sector and help the poor.
