Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh, Virbhadra Singh revealed that the government had established 38 colleges during the last four years and four private colleges have also been undertaken. He laid the foundation stone for a new building of Government Arya Degree College located at Nurpur.
He also stated that by establishing 38 colleges during the last four years, the government had created 1,177 posts in the college cadre. It means the government is not only giving emphasis to education but also generating employment opportunities. On the other hand, a total number of 9,538 posts were created in the education department to provide qualitative education and the government took essential steps to fill up all the posts.

He further added that the new building at Government Arya Degree College is being constructed at a cost of Rs. 20.34 crore. He revealed that the government has been successful in disbursing a total amount of Rs. 213 crores as scholarships during the last four years and indicated that students' welfare and education is the top priority for the government.
He further explained that under Mukhya Mantri Gyandeep Scheme, the government provided education loan up to Rs. 10 lakh to the students with an interest rate of 4%.

He expressed his happiness over the fact that more than 2,300 students enrolled in various courses at Government Arya Degree College. Therefore, the government is constructing a new campus to make sure that ample space is available to turn it into a beautiful campus. The new campus is being built at some distance from town, but he assured that a separate road would be constructed connecting the campus to the town.
