The Medical Council of India- MCI has approved of 50 more MBBS seats at the Guru Gobind Singh Medical College and Hospital Faridkot . Now the number of the medical seats has gone up to 100 MBBS. This will provide students with more opportunities to pursue their career in the medical field and to balance out the doctor-patient ratio

The MCI conducted an assessment of the medical college and hospital in the month of December and January to examine the standard of examinations held by Baba Farid University of Health Sciences and they also took necessary steps to introduce new facilities in the college. The executive committee of MCI approved the assessment report at the meeting on 6 February 2018. Whereas the oversight committee approved the same on 23 February.
Guru Gobind Singh Medical College is recognised by the Medical Council of India . The college has introduced super-specialization facilities in the departments such as plastic surgery, neurosurgery, neurology, nuclear medicine among others. The Government of India has also granted Rs. 15 crores to the medical college for the establishment of the separate unit under the Mother and Child Healthcare Scheme of NRHM.

Also, the hospital is fully equipped with the blood bank facilities. All the diagnostic labs such as Pathology, Biochemistry and others have all the latest equipment and facilities to cater to the need of the patients and provide round the clock service to them.
