Indian Institute of Technology, Madras organized an alumni reunion in a grand manner where around 500 alumni of the institute participated and shared their experiences. On this occasion, the institute announced that out of 100% students who graduated from IIT Madras, 15% are venturing into entrepreneurship. Similarly, 40% of faculty members are also a part of entrepreneurship activities.
Ashok, Faculty-Incharge at IIT Madras spoke about 'Entrepreneurship at IIT-M'. He indicated that the entrepreneurial ecosystem and research part at IIT-M became a driving force in the ecosystem of the system of the country which gave more emphasis to startups. He further added that the number of students and faculty involving in entrepreneurial activities has been increasing every year.

Dean of International and Alumni Relations, Nagarajan mentioned that the institute had developed its alumni network and relations in the last decade. The number of members joining in the alumni network of IIT-M is increasing. He indicated that alumni network is essential for each and every institute for the overall development of an institute.

Director of IIT Madras, Bhaskar Ramamurthy revealed the number of students pursuing postgraduate and Ph. D programmes in IIT-M is more compared to undergraduate courses which are significant indicators for the development of Institute. He further added that nowadays students have to choose courses and electives as they wish.
Alumni networks are highly essential for an institute. For instance, the alumni network of Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay had given suggestions and trained the final year students on how to tackle interviews during the placements.
