Five IT giants – have offered 7947 jobs to the students of Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT) - one of the leading and largest universities in the country.
This is not only even 2 companies- Cognizant and TCS have increased the remuneration by 10 per cent compared to last year.
“This is the fourth consecutive year VIT has shared the slot one of the IT services companies. For the first time, VIT shared the slot one with 5 companies - Accenture, Cognizant, Infosys, TCS and Wipro. The selection process for all the companies happened between September 1 and 15, 2015. Last year only one student has got Rs 24 lakh offer, this year three students were offered Rs 22 lakh each,” said Chancellor of the University.
“This is the first time in India, 5 companies are hiring more than 1000 students each from a single institution, said VIT Vice President Sekar Viswanthan.
The highest number of jobs offered by were Cognizant offered 1914 followed by, TCS -1864; Accenture -1472; Infosys -1456; and Wipro- 1241.
This is also the highest number of recruitment done by individual companies surpassing their own records, Cognizant- 1914 (previous highest: 1911 (VIT-2015 batch), TCS -1864 (previous highest: 1755 (elsewhere-2012 batch); Infosys - 1456 (previous highest -1452 (VIT-2015 batch).
Recruitment started in July last with Paypal recruiting 13 students with a pay package of Rs 20 lakh per annum. Helpchat offered the highest package of Rs 22 lakhs per annum and recruited three B.Tech. (CSE) students.
The overall conversion rate has increased by nearly 84 per cent.
