In order to give importance to and focus on promoting sustainability, the TERI University has introduced a new course on Sustainable Consumption and Production (SCP). The course will be a core requirement of the Master of Arts (MA) in Public Policy and Sustainable Development programme that is currently being offered by the TERI University. It will also be available as an elective course for other postgraduate programmes. It is meant for government policy makers and students in order to aid them in strengthening public governance for SCP.

The primary aim of the University is to enhance learning on SCP which is a part of the sustainable development goals. In view of the same, the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) has been approached for partnership by the TERI University and some support is also being sought from the European Union (EU).

The course will focus on the challenges and opportunities in relation to SCP. Familiarising the students with newer concepts and advancements in the Indian and South Asian context will also be given due importance. Analysing a policy, mainstreaming SCP into a national and regional policy is also a part of the proposed course structure.
