The Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs) have made Aadhaar card mandatory for all the railway recruitment tests. With an objective to ensure the fair conduct of the examinations, RRBs have made Aadhaar cards essential. Therefore, during the online application process, the applicants need to enter their Aadhaar number to complete the registration process. RRBs have taken this decision to regulate impersonations during the examination.

The following are the changes that are implemented by RRBs for all the railway recruitment tests: -
- Entering Aadhaar number during the online registration process is mandatory.
- If the candidates do not have Aadhaar number they can mention the 28 digit enrollment ID of the same.
- Fingerprint biometric attendance will be taken during the examination.
- The fingerprints of the candidates should match with the Aadhaar server.

RRBs further directed the candidates who have not registered for Aadhaar card yet to do so as early as possible by visiting the nearest Aadhaar enrollment centre.
However, the provisions which are mentioned above are not applicable to the candidates belonging to Jammu & Kashmir, Assam and Meghalaya. On the other hand, candidates applying from these domiciles have to provide accurate details of their Passport/ Voter ID/ Driving License during the application process.
Nowadays, most of the entrance exam conducting authorities have implemented the provision to have a mandatory Aadhaar number to be eligible to apply. Many the state governments have also made seeding of Aadhaar number with bank accounts for direct transfer of scholarships. The only objective is to make the system transparent and fair.
