The University Grants Commission has clarified that Aadhar is not mandatory for the students to avail scholarships or fellowships offered by UGC. Dr. Sunita Siwach , Deputy Secretary of UGC, said that any student who wants to apply for the scholarship should not be denied due to non-availability of aadhar card/number. Apart from aadhar, the candidates have to provide alternative means of identity and details related to bank accounts to avail scholarships.
