The academic year at International Institute of Digital Technology (IIDT) Tirupati commenced on February 15, 2017. The orientation class for the students took place on February 6, 2017. However, the inaugural session of the institute took place on February 15, 2017. IIDT is the first digital technology institute of Andhra Pradesh, and it is going to emerge as a full-fledged academic hub in the coming years.
The engineering college and natural sciences blocks of Sri Venkateswara University have been revamped to accommodate IIDT temporarily. The construction of its permanent campus will be completed in a couple of years.

There are various institutes across the country which offer courses in digital technology. However, IIDT is a unique institute in terms of pedagogy, and it is totally industry driven.
Apart from the creation of IIDT, the creation of various excellence centres is noteworthy. The main objective of these centres is to present live cases, roadblocks and challenges to the students and make them resolve the issues and face challenges.

Dr. Ravi Kishore, Director of IIDT, revealed that the centres of excellence would play a significant role in creating sustainable and strong startup ecosystems. He further added that automation and computerization had taken a significant position in the area of digital technology. However, the major concern today is sustenance and security. Therefore, these are the areas where IIDT will focus and carry out research.
IIDT offers PG courses in Business Analytics and Cyber Security with an intake of 22 and 30 seats respectively. Gujarat Forensic Sciences University, Ahmedabad has been supporting IIDT. The first batch of Cyber Security students will visit the varsity on February 17, 2017, and stay there until May 6, 2017.
