After MCI, UGC and AICTE to be Revamped by Niti Aayog

The government is trying to completely update, restructure and revamp the education system of India. There are talks to completely Scrap the Current Structure of MCI and to update it according to needs of today so, maximum students can take advantage of it.
Niti Aayog is currently working on the reestablishment of MCI. The work is not completed yet but they already have another two tasks to perform. Now, the government also wants to upgrade the AICTE i.e. All India Council for Technical Education and UGC short for University Grants Commission.
Arvind Panagariya, the vice chairman of Niti Aayog is heading the committee that is at work to reshape the education system in India.
The Office of Prime Minister also known as PMO has asked the committee to also work on the restructuring of board that looks after Ayurvedic and Homeopathy Education.
All this is happening because the current structure of education is not as beneficial for students as it should be. The new structure will focus more on the quality than quantity as in a huge number of doctors are not necessary but good doctors are necessary.
The Aayog committee has given a proposal in which they have decided to focus on following points and believe if this approach is followed then it will be profitable.

  • Enterprise
  • Ethics
  • Career

Following people are on board with this idea.

  • Union Health Secretary
  • Prime Minister’s additional Principal Secretary P K Mishra
  • Amitabh Kant, Niti Aayog CEO
  • Panagariya
