All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) , has appreciated Rajasthan Technical University (RTU) for their unique system of giving ranks to engineering colleges that come under its administration. The ranks are given on the basis of score given on a scale of 1000 points. AICTE is planning to set the same system for other engineering universities of India. This will be done once AICTE is through with the details of this system.
There are 29 factors involved in this unique ranking system of Rajasthan Technical University (RTU). The university has counted parameters including parking space and stair size of the colleges. All these pointers are clearly mentioned on the official website of RTU for students to go through this information before taking admission into any of these engineering colleges.

AICTE advisor Dileep Malkhede, mentions that, the RTU’s system to be a progressive step. He also added that this unique ranking system shows the real image of the engineering colleges and reveals the status to the aspirants. The ranking done by HRD may not serve the needs of the masses but this state-wide ranking will help localities to search for best institutions in their state. Adding to his statement Malkhede said that other state universities that offer technical education should follow the same formula to dig out the best engineering colleges of the state.

Number of courses offered, ratio of students and teachers, student-teacher enrollment , playground, hostel and mess, smart classes, list of students scoring first division marks, insurance, number of seminars and conferences and university’s annual journals, etc. are few factors involved in the ranking of RTU which was done by acquiring online information.
