A new MBA course on Innovation which is targeted to encourage startups in 15 colleges across India gets the approval of All India Council of Technical Education popularly known as AICTE. The council has given their nod and the new MBA course on innovation is set to start from 2019-20 academic year.
The dual track MBA course will mainly focus on Entrepreneurship Development and Venture Development. The executive council informed that the students who want to start their own startup can choose one track and others can choose the other track designed to get employment in startups.
The chairman of AICTE, Anil Sahasrabudhe has said that the initiative has been taken after seeking suggestions of various stakeholders. The startup Implementation Committee proposed the course previous year after discussions with eminent institutes such as Indian Institute of Management - IIM Ahmedabad .
The design of this course puts a barrier for every other institute to run the course. The course is designed in such a way that it will require certain infrastructure in the institutes to conduct the course.
Where in present courses, Entrepreneurship is only included as a part of the study, this course puts its prime focus on entrepreneurship with the study of practical components and real-world examples. The course will teach subjects like fundraising, startup ideas, business laws, and leadership skills etc.
The course fees are expected to range between Rs. 80,000 to Rs. 1,00,000 per semester which will be confirmed after the institutes release their detailed fee structures.
Through the government's startup helping policies and Unite India initiatives, the new course will help students with detailed training on creating startups as the ease of doing business in India index is improving for past few years which will create immense potentialities for startups. Indian Institute of Management - IIM Trichy Director, Bhimarya Metri said.
