FTII Receives Approval from AICTE for Five Courses

The Film and Television Institute of India has been granted approval for four courses in the television wing and one course in the film wing of the institute. FTII becomes the first ever film institute in India to be given such kind of recognition by AICTE.

FTII Receives Approval from AICTE for Five Courses

All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE) has approved five courses from the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) . FTII is one of the first and the only institute in India, till now, to be granted approval to its courses.

AICTE has recently released a new category where they will approving courses in the fields of applied arts, crafts and design. AICTE has released a list of all the institutes who have received approval for their courses. Among the list of institutes, FTII is one of the institutes that has been listed. Five of the courses that are on offer at the FTII have been given the approval by AICTE, in a statement that was made in an official release.

Out of the five courses that have been granted approval by the All India Council of Technical Education, 4 of the courses belong to the television department of the institute. The Television Wing of the Film and Television Institute of India offers four courses, viz Video Editing, Directing, Sound Recording and Television Engineering as well as Electronic Cinematography, all of which have been approved. From the film department of FTII, one course, viz. Feature Film and Screenplay Writing has been given the approval by AICTE, as stated in the official release.

In a statement made by Brijendra Pal Singh, Chairman of FTII Governing Council stated his contentment over the news of FTII being granted the approval by AICTE. He further added that the approval makes them the first ever film school to be offered a grant like that.

Singh further stated that the television wing of the FTII has been receiving various awards for as well as being in the limelight especially in international honours. He added that the approval by the AICTE for all the courses offered by the TV wing of FTII will hopefully make students opt for courses offered by the Television Wing, thus making them as inviting as the Film Wing.
