According to the new AICTE notification, all the technical institutions will have to adhere to the new fee structure prescribed by them. AICTE has issued a notice to all the technical institutions across the country directing them to adhere to the fee structure fixed by the Admission and Fee Regulatory Committee . If they do not follow the same, a strict action would be taken against them that could also include withdrawal of approval.
As per AICTE, many technical institutions in the country were charging different fees from the students and not the one approved by the State fee regulatory committee. There were many reports from the students and authorities that institutions were charging higher fees than the one fixed by the Admission and Fee Regulatory Committee . Therefore, to check the malpractices and to avoid such cases, AICTE has issued the notification.

Apart from this, AICTE has also warned the institutions to not to reduce the numbers of faculty members and to maintain the faculty-student ratio as per the norms. AICTE revised its directive recently changing the faculty-student ratio from 1:15 to 1:20. The technical body has also asked the state universities to make sure that the institutions do not reduce the faculty due to revised norms.

Before increasing the faculty-student ratio, AICTE approved of 20% additional faculty in the institutions.
