All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has closed 97 institutes due to not getting an extension of approval (EOA) for the last 6 years. The 97 government, aided, and private institutes were penalized for failing to apply through the AICTE site for the EOA. The notification regarding this was given by the AICTE on March 4, 2022.
