The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has directed all the technical institutes across the country to publish/ upload their accreditation details on their official websites. The move will help the students to make an apt choice while joining the colleges. According to an observation made by AICTE, many institutes hide their details pertaining to accreditation and others. On the other hand, some institutes are just publishing or uploading partial details, which lead to confusion. Therefore, the institutes must disclose the details no matter what their accreditation status is.

An official letter issued by AICTE to all technical institutes further indicated that uploading details on official websites would also help the industry to know about a specific institution. The institutes that are yet to receive accreditation and have applied for the same must upload the status on the official website.
However, the accreditation of engineering courses is still voluntary and the government is planning whether to make it compulsory/mandatory or not.

Usually, AICTE displays the list of fake institutes that offer engineering and management courses without proper accreditation. Therefore, students need to check the official website of AICTE every year to check the accreditation status of different institutes.
Recently, the government has proposed changes to different guidelines of AICTE with a motive to improve the quality of education. Since a large number of technical institutes are prevalent in India, there should be a proper and rigid monitoring to check the quality of these institutes. AICTE also want all technical institutes to focus more on improving skills and promote innovation.
