AIIMS Bags Top Spot in NIRF Medical Rankings 2022: 5th Time in a Row

NIRF Medical Rankings 2022: As expected of the institute, the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi has once again topped the list of NIRF Medical Rankings while appearing in the list of top 10 overall institutes for the first time. AIIMS, along with being the best medical institute in India, is also the 9th best of all institutes in the country. Aside from this, AIIMS also ranks at 9th position in the Research category as well.

Despite retaining the first spot ever since the establishment of the Medical category in NIRF Rankings in 2018, the NIRF Quality Check Score for AIIMS, Delhi has been fluctuating. In 2018, AIIMS scored 90.71 points on the NIRF Quality Check Score but in the next two consecutive years, 2019 and 2020, it lowered to 87.52 and 90.69 respectively. Recovering in 2021, AIIMS scored its record best score of 92.07, one of the highest across all categories, that score dipped down to 91.60 in 2022. Nonetheless, it is still one of the best.

Maintaining the same consistency as that of AIIMS since 2018, the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research at Chandigarh, popularly known as PGIMER Chandigarh, ranked at second position this year too with a score of 79.00. Similarly, Christian Medical College, Vellore ranked at its usual third position by achieving a NIRF score of 72.84.

The admissions to all these top medical institutions are taken through the National Entrance cum Eligibility Test (NEET) for both UG and PG courses.
