Union Health and Family Welfare Minister JP Nadda have given permission for the appointment of faculty members and medical personnel , thus speeding up things at AIIMS!
The institute had advertised for around 240 posts including professors, additional professors, associate professors and assistant professors spanning more than 35 disciplines. Interviews have already been completed, over 90 per cent of posts have been filled with the appropriate candidates but the final selection is dependent on the approval of the GB.
“The GB has allowed appointment of the faculty members on a priority basis. This is indeed a shot in the arm for us as faculty shortage had been the major bottleneck in proper academic and medical services development in the institute. Around 90 candidates have already been finalised for different posts and will be issued appointment letters very soon,” Director Prof AK Mohapatra said.
The University has many pending issues to solve as the GB, in fact, had not met for nearly three years. Some of the issues include recommendations of the Finance Committee and Academic Committee, AIIMS, Bhubaneswar presently has 380 beds and aims to achieve its full-fledged shape with 1000-bed hospital as soon as possible.
Now the GB has decided to meet more regularly to accelerate development works. The Health Minister agreed to chair the GB meeting twice a year.
