The first year MBBS classes at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Bibinagar of Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district commenced on 27th August 2019.
Within four months after central government approved setting up of AIIMS in Telangana , the Health Authorities of the state started the planning for the same. AIIMS Bhopal Medical Officer Karman Singh has been appointed as the institute’s director.
The first MBBS batch of AIIMS Telangana has students from both Telugu states, and it is a great opportunity for MBBS aspirants in Andhra and Telangana to pursue world-class medical education.
AIIMS Bhopal is the mentoring institution for AIIMS Bibinagar and has recruited 40 senior professors and other teaching staff. Reports revealed that the interest among healthcare professionals to work in Hyderabad was high. The majority of the teaching staff has been recruited from across India. As of now, only one year contract has been offered to the teaching staff at AIIMS Bibinagar.
AIIMS Telangana has enrolled fifty students in the first batch like other AIIMS across the country . The authorities are aiming to make AIIMS Telangana a centre for excellence and set top-notch standards in medical education, training, and research.
For setting up AIIMS Telangana, the state government handed over the entire land of Nizam Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS) Bibinagar. NIMS Bibinagar facility is almost spread over 166 acres, and the Health Department officials are yet to acquire another 49 acres of land for setting up AIIMS campus.
On the other hand, the construction of the permanent campus for AIIMS Andhra Pradesh is underway in Mangalagiri. AIIMS Andhra Pradesh commenced its first MBBS batch this year , and all the seats have been filled. The permanent campus is expected to be completed by 2019.
