APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University (AKTU), Lucknow has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with REPL, a private firm which deals in real estate and infrastructure. The MoU will facilitate civil engineering students of Institute of Engineering & Technology (IET), AKTU to solve industry’s problems in real time which benefits both academia and industry.
The MoU will also raise industry participation in research. For this purpose, the varsity has set up a Chair Professor in IET’s Civil Engineering Department. The term ‘Chair’ is given to endowed professorship which is regarded as one of the top honours awarded in the academic arena and is reserved for the top faculty members. The Chair Professor will come into existence on November 29, 2016.

Vinay Pathak, Vice-Chancellor of AKTU, revealed that it is a first MoU wich has been signed with the industry to facilitate students' hands-on learning with industry. Pradeep Mishra, CMD of REPL expressed that the firm will bear the expenses of Chair Professor. The firm will also award three best students every year while one award will be given to IET student and the rest will be given to students of other affiliated institutes.
Nowadays various organisations and companies are showing keen interest in partnering with various reputed institutions in the country. Recently, Numaligarh Refinery Limited (NRL) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Dibrugarh University to strengthen industry and academia linkage through mutual collaboration. The MoU facilitates both NRL and Dibrugarh University to share knowledge and information through studies and interactions.
