AKTU students will now get their degrees with no hassles and just within a day. According to Controller of examination JP Pandey, earlier, University used to send degrees for printing or for corrections to Mumbai. The entire process took two to three months. Students who approach the university every day with problems regarding misprints and miscommunication in their results have, on many occasions, complained of officials not addressing their problems and being rude to them.
Many students complaint that university officials often make them wait for hours only to send them back empty-handed. In the past few years, the university has seen its fair share of student strikes and on a few occasions, the demonstrations have even taken a violent turn with window panes being smashed and parts of the university being set on fire by angry students. Most of this was disgruntlement over university's alleged apathetic and unfriendly examination system.
The new system in place will make available the degree in a day, if the details are provided before 11am. “We have updated our software and now own secured stationery , including degree paper. After verifying the data, we send the details to the printer in Mumbai. He then sends us a PDF file by late afternoon. We take a print on degree paper with security features,'' explained Pandey .
Degrees of graduating students are sent to their respective colleges after the convocation.
