The Ministry of AYUSH is planning to set up All Indian Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA) in five more cities apart from New Delhi. Mr. Shripad Tesso, Union Minister revealed that the five AIIA institutes would come up after the establishment of All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA) in New Delhi.
Mr. Shripad Tesso further said that they have asked for funds from the central government for the establishment of five All India Institutes of Ayurveda. However, the locations to establish these institutes have not been identified yet.

He further indicated that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been giving more importance to traditional courses like AYUSH. With an objective to popularize traditional Indian treatment system, the government formed the AYUSH ministry.
Mr. Shripad Tesso also directed the government of Madhya Pradesh to prepare a detailed proposal for the establishment of naturopathy and yoga center in Bhopal.

Earlier, the minister revealed that they received 163 proposals from state governments and union territories (UTs) for the establishment of AYUSH medical colleges. All these proposals were received during 2016-17 and the ministry accepted 159 proposals out of those. The proposals were later sent to the Central Regulatory Councils for approval.
As per the information that was given by AYUSH Ministry, out of 163 proposals, 9 were for Unani colleges, 45 for Homeopathy colleges and 108 for Ayurveda colleges. The ministry rejected four proposals, as they were not prepared as per the norms prescribed by the ministry. Currently, there are 607 AYUSH medical colleges in various locations across the country.
