Amity University Uttar Pradesh organized a ‘Special Convocation’ at Amity Campus, Sector 125, Noida to honor Rt. Hon'ble Baroness Sandip Verma, Parliamentary under Secretary of State at the Department for International Development, UK with Honorary Doctorate in Philosophy.
The solemn ceremony commenced with formal procession which was led by ceremonial Piper Band followed by venerated members of the management and dignitaries including Amar Singh, Former member of Rajya Sabha; Dr. Ashok K Chauhan- Founder President, Amity Group; Mr. Atul Chauhan- Chancellor, Amity University Uttar Pradesh; Pooja Chauhan- Vice Chairperson, Amity Humanity Foundation; Dr. (Prof.) Balvinder Shukla, Vice Chancellor, Amity University Uttar Pradesh, distinguished Trustees and members of Management, Directors, Head of Institutions who walked the aisle, wearing ceremonious gowns.
Atul Chauhan- Chancellor, Amity University Uttar Pradesh declared the “Special Convocation” open. Sharing his views, Dr. Ashok K Chauhan- Founder President, Amity Group said, “It’s a historical day for Amity to honor distinguished luminary of unparallel stature who epitomizes leadership and radiates success.” Lauding the intellectual capital of Amity, Dr. Chauhan pointed that every Amitian has four distinct qualities which are synergy of knowledge, urge to use one’s potential to fullest, urge to serve humanity and dedication to make India a Knowledge Superpower. Praising Rt. Hon'ble Baroness Sandip Verma, Dr. Chauhan said that Hon’ble Baroness is an outstanding administrator, brilliant academician and illustrious parliamentary who has contributed immensely to society with great humility. He expressed his hope that Rt. Hon'ble Baroness and Amity will have a lifelong valuable relationship.
Rt. Hon'ble Baroness Sandip Verma was conferred upon Honoris Causa Doctorate of Philosophy (D.Phil) for her strategic vision and inspirational leadership in all political and social endeavors with utmost dedication towards humanity.
In her acceptance speech, Rt. Hon'ble Baroness Sandip Verma expressed her gratitude to Amity for bestowing the honor upon her. She recalled that her first visit to Amity was 7 years ago and it makes her proud to see that India has a magnificent Private University which has the greatest minds of India. She lauded Dr. Ashok K Chauhan for providing high quality education system to Indian society. She remarked that global partnerships deliver a value system that entwines with the inclusive education system. She stressed that Amity brings great strength to the foundation of society by imbibing virtues, values, education and urge for success in every student. Rt. Hon'ble Baroness Verma shared the story of journey from being born in Amritsar to being a Parliamentary in United Kingdoms. She averred that it is the deep rooted knowledge of her history which proved to be her strength and strong backbone throughout her life.
Congratulating Rt. Hon'ble Baroness Sandip Verma for the honor, Amar Singh, Former Member of Rajya Sabha said that he has always believed in the power of truth. He emphasized that truthfulness is the greatest and most important of all human virtues. Truth can be time testing , struggling at times but lies may lead to success for a short time but in the long run the person is bound to suffer. He stressed that Dr. Chauhan’s knowledge of truth has resulted in the growth of Amity group by leaps and bounds. The Chancellor declared the Special Convocation closed.
