Amrita University has emerged as the only private university from India to find a place in the prestigious Times Higher Education ranking of Top 200 universities from the BRICS and emerging economies.
It has secured the 15th position among the only 16 Indian educational institutes to find a place there.
It is ranked neck to neck with Indian Institute of Science, seven IITs, Delhi University, Jadavpur University, Punjab University and the University of Calcutta, Vice Chancellor, Amrith Vishwa Vidyapeetham (Amrita University) Dr P Venkat Rangan said in release, today.
Overall, Amrita University has been ranked 181 among the best 200 universities from Asian, African, South American and European nations such as Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, Taiwan, Turkey, Chile and Colombia, he said. This is a proud moment for the founder and Chancellor Sri Mata Amritanandamayi Devi (popularly called Amma), as this achievement has come in the way of the university only after 12 years after it was founded.
