The new Vice-Chancellor of Aligarh Muslim University, Dr. Tariq Mansoor assured minority status for the varsity. Speaking about his plans for the next five years, Dr. Tariq Mansoor indicated that he would take steps to ensure a student-friendly campus.
Giving details about academic plans, Dr. Tariq mentioned that he would give more emphasis to research output, and take steps to increase the same. Besides increasing research output, he will also focus on improving teaching standards in the varsity. Maintaining discipline on the campus is also one of the focus areas.

Dr. Tariq Mansoor also indicated that he would try his best to regulate criminal activities on the campus. For this purpose, he will seek help from the district administration.
Speaking about his association with Aligarh Muslim University, Dr. Tariq Mansoor explained that he knows the honest as well as corrupt people on the campus. He also revealed that he is aware of the capabilities of many in the varsity.
Dr. Tariq Mansoor further explained that Aligarh Muslim University is also facing a financial crisis like many other varsities in the country, and he will request the government for the grant of funds to legitimate needs.

Expressing his concern about the less employability of students, Dr. Tariq clarified that the varsity will focus on introducing career-oriented courses to improve the employability of students.Dr. Tariq Mansoor assured that he would urge the government to grant minority status to Aligarh Muslim University. He concluded that he would start initiating his plans from day 1 itself.
The appointment of Dr. Tariq Mansoor did not receive any opposition from the officials of varsity. He secured highest votes in the university court meeting.
