Andhra Pradesh: Farmer’s Son Bags All-India 3rd Rank in UPSC Civil Services Exam 2016

The success story of a farmer’s son from Srikakulam, Andhra Pradesh who bagged all-India level 3 rd rank in UPSC IAS examination 2016 is a source of inspiration to many. Mr. Gopala Krishna Ronanki is the son of Mr. Ronanki Appa Rao who works in fields.

Gopala Krishna has been working as a primary school teacher for the past 11 years. His ultimate aim was to crack civil services examination, and he has done it now. Gopala Krishna’s mother also works in fields. The family was very poor and they could not afford to provide education to his son in convent schools.

Giving details about his life journey, Gopala Krishna shared that he completed his schooling from a government school in his district. Later, he studied intermediate in MPC from a government junior college in his region. He completed his teacher’s training course from a college in West Godavari and became a government teacher in 2006. With an objective to earn his livelihood, he focused on becoming government teacher initially. However, he did not give up his aim to crack civil services examination.

Gopala Krishna was not an English medium student. He did his schooling and intermediate in Telugu medium. He chose Telugu Literature as the optional subject in UPSC Civil Services (Mains) examination. He also appeared for the personality test or interview in Telugu.

Revealing the most surprising fact, Gopala Krishna mentioned that his parents did not know about his dream of becoming an IAS officer. His parents knew only one thing that their son is working as a government teacher. As soon as the UPSC Civil Services final results are out, he disclosed to his parents that he bagged the job.

Mr. Muzammil Khan was the topper from Hyderabad (Telangana) who bagged all-India 22 nd rank. His father was a retired IPS officer who served as City Police Commissioner, Hyderabad. Muzammil Khan was working as an engineer in a private firm earlier. However, he gave up the job to prepare for Civil Services Examination and achieved success.
