The Andhra Pradesh Government is planning to distribute free smartphones to the students pursuing UG and PG courses at various colleges and universities across the state. The government is going to take this initiative as a part of its efforts to develop Digital Andhra Pradesh.

The primary objective of the government is to involve students in spreading digital literacy. For this purpose, it has come up with various innovations and ideas. The proposal for distributing free smartphones to the students was made at the Cabinet Meeting addressed by Chief Minister, Mr. Chandra Babu Naidu . The system has been already prevalent in Tamil Nadu where the government provides smartphones at free of cost for the students pursuing higher education.

Chandra Babu Naidu gave a positive response to the idea and assured that the government would take a decision soon. If the proposal comes into force, the students, especially from rural areas, will get benefitted.
It is high time for the government to bring changes in the education system. This year, the government introduced digital classes in schools to promote digital literacy. It also introduced Continuous Comprehensive Evaluation (CCE) in the teaching from Class 6 to Class 10.
