The State Council for Higher Education – Andhra Pradesh (APSCHE) is planning to scrap AP EAMCET entrance examination conducted for the admission to engineering , pharmacy and agriculture science courses. The formation of NTA is one of the major reasons for the proposal to scrap AP EAMCET.
Recently, the central government announced that NTA would conduct all the major entrance exams such as JEE, NEET, CMAT, GPAT etc. Already, state-level medical admissions are being conducted based on national-level medical entrance exam i.e., NEET . Therefore, the state government is looking forward to replacing AP EAMCET with JEE Main for admission to engineering courses.

If the state government agrees to consider JEE Main score for engineering admissions within a couple of months, AP EAMCET will be scrapped, and students will have to appear for JEE Main exam to get admission in engineering courses across the state.
Some of the advantages of scrapping state-level engineering entrance test, i.e., AP EAMCET are: -
- JEE Main score is widely accepted by many technical institutes across the country and the students from Andhra Pradesh can take admission in any institute in India that accepts JEE Main score.
- Consideration of the JEE Main score will be helpful to students, as they will not need to apply for multiple entrance exams.
