Ganta Srinivasa Rao, HRD Minister for State of Andhra Pradesh asked all the vice-chancellors of Andhra Pradesh state universities to improve the quality in higher education so that they can compete with private universities.
A meeting was organised between him and VCs of the state universities on 28th Oct 2019 at Andhra University to review the work taken with regard to the resolutions made in January earlier this year.
During the meeting, he informed that 12 private universities have signed a pact with the government, therefore, to compete, it is important that there is an improvement in the education quality. Many private universities like Great Lakes University, SRM have established their campuses in AP after the Andhra Pradesh Private University Bill.

He further said that private colleges and universities are making its students job ready and offering them relevant placement opportunities through campus drive, the introduction of placement cells, internship opportunities etc.
According to him, it is where the state universities are lagging and they need to make its students employable by establishing placement cells.

The main aim of the AP state government is to secure good ranks in NIRF rankings. Therefore, the state universities should make changes in the syllabus as per the industry needs from time to time to increase the employability of the students. He also advised the universities to collaborate with more industries which will ultimately be beneficial for the students.
