Andhra University will soon sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Defence Sector to offer a total number of 117 courses. On February 14, 2017, the officials of the varsity organised a roundtable conference and held discussions with the officials of Indian Navy, Indian Coast Guards and Indian Air Force. After the meeting, the varsity announced that they are going to launch 117 courses in collaboration with Defence Sector.
G. Nageswara Rao, Vice-Chancellor of Andhra University, revealed that they have been in talks with Defence Sector for the past six months and finally got the nod for the initiative. He thanked Eastern Naval Command who played a significant role in taking a pro-active step and supported the joint initiative.

P.S. Avadhani, Principal of Andhra University College of Engineering (AUCoE) , explained that 117 courses which will be launched in collaboration with Defence Sector would cover all major segments such as law, humanities, science and engineering. He further stated that some of the courses would be offered in distance mode to suit the requirements of the defence personnel.

Mr. Advani mentioned that apart from certification courses, the Defence Sector and the varsity will focus more on research and consultancy projects particularly in the areas of cyber security, systems engineering, ship designing and ship building.
S.R. Sharma, Vice-Admiral of Director General Naval Projects, expressed that there is a need to lay more emphasis to research in certain areas. He expressed his happiness over collaborating with Andhra University.
